Empowering the youth of Detroit to pursue higher education is our mission.

The Bryant Searcy Scholarship Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in honor of fallen Wayne County Deputy Corporal, Bryant Searcy.

Bryant's mission in life was to be a positive influence with everyone he met.

On September 2nd, 2020 Corporal Bryant Searcy was tragically killed in the line of duty. He worked for the Wayne County Sheriff Department for 18 years.

Bryant was dedicated to mentoring young people in the inner city of Detroit, as he also worked as an officer in the juvenile court system during his time at WCSD.

Those who knew Bryant always speak of his drive, his joy, and his contagious laugh.

Bryant Searcy was a loving husband and father. He was passionate about health & fitness, spending time outdoors, and listening to old school and new school music. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding any opportunity that he was given.  Bryant was a fun person to be around and was rarely seen without a smile on his face. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.

Bryant could give you words of wisdom when you were confused, offer a joke if you were sad, or suggest a book  he was reading to impart knowledge. When you left his presence, you felt encouraged, empowered, and inspired. He always made sure to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who didn’t know.

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well - Matt 6:33" was one of Bryant's favorite scriptures. It was hard to steal his joy. He made sure to be a light in this world of darkness.

Whether it was leaving Bible verses with money attached around his workplace or sending motivational videos to his friends and family, Bryant embodied the Toni Morrison quote, “If you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else.”

Bryant was committed to mentoring and pouring into the lives of young people in the inner city of Detroit.

Whether it was imparting wisdom, sharing a book or offering life saving advice, he made it his mission to leave a positive impression to all.  Genesis Conley was one of the many young people Bryant had a positive influence on.
